The term passed at an enormous rate of knots filled with academic awards, outings, events such as Science Week and Maths Day, and personal achievements. We’ve also had a tremendous skipathon, a visit by artist Antonia Rolls and the best-selling author Alex Preston, an Old Boy. Pre-Prep Class Assemblies all kept to the theme of books and we were so impressed with PP4 and PP3's retelling of the modern fairy tale 'King Changealot’ and their endorsing of the need for reading and books.

Half terms seem to go at an amazing rate of knots, no sooner are we  back at school we are breaking up.  As usual, in the short period  a lot of work has been covered, matches played, visits made,  with achievements all round. This term has been packed with activity as ever! We were especially delighted at the success of two pupils winning places at Sherborne and Burgess Hill Girls. Well done to Millie and Rudi!

It's been a busy and festive Winter term at Sompting Abbotts Prep School. We're very proud of our pupils, with special congratulations to Rosalind Dyer for her outstanding success in the Arun Festival, and to the Year 3 and 4 pupils who all did well in their first Lamda exams. We saw lots of sporting fun, from netball, to hockey, to cricket to soccer, and in our conker competition. The run-up to Christmas was packed with lots of choir performances, a wonderful Pre-Prep nativity play and our annual Christmas Fayre, with the special extra of a Santa's Grotto that attracted many visitors.

Autumn is the season of mists and mellow fruitfulness and this term has seen plenty of Autumn colour. A few highlights from West Sussex independent school Sompting Abbott's Autumn term newsletter? Our Golden Conker conquistadores are battling it out with armfuls of shiny conkers gathered from the school grounds; we've had a spectacular Halloween party involving the whole school and amazing costumes; soccer and netball excitement; and we baked up a treat in support of Macmillan Care.

It's been another action-packed summer term at Sompting Abbotts. A few highlights? A well-deserved distinction in the rock and pop drum exams; rock pooling at Birling Gap; discovering telescopes at Herstmonceux Science Centre; handling hissing cockroaches at Tilgate Nature Centre; magical choral singing at Lancing College; launch of our new Lego Club; piglets escaping from pens at the Weald & Downland Museum and our sunny school fayre. 

No sooner back and we are breaking up for the Easter holidays, this term seems to have sped by, packed with activities and achievements. Here's a taster: twin girls win art scholarships to Farlington and another pupil achieved a scholarship to The Towers; a host of successes at the Worthing Speech & Drama Festival; our students impressed staff with their knowledge at Shoreham Power Station; Charity Cross Country; Science Week poster competition; a special super-fast performance of Macbeth and the Pre-Prep start trying out their new Amazon Fire tablets. 

The snowdrops and crocuses along Abbotts Walk and on the croquet lawn are a welcome hint of spring. As always in the school, things have been happening. Let's discover, in brief, what: speech and drama successes; a gold medal in the Worthing Swimming Gala; an inspiring performance by Worthing Symphony Orchestra; a funny and educational spelling workshop by Sir Linkalot; PP4 took us back to the Great Fire of London; the Rainbow Theatre brought fairy tales to life and we're gearing up for costumes fine and fanciful for World Book Day.
