As part of Science Week, Southern Water and Freshwater Habitats Trust are running a programme called Water Detectives for our Years 3 and 4. The session’s aims and objectives will be:
Explain importance of clean water to wildlife and people
Impart key messages from Southern Water and FHT
Demonstrate and supervise eDNA and water testing
Explain relevance of data collection and subsequent contribution to a “bigger picture”
As part of this, we’ll be testing our water in the school pond between 10.00-12.30.
At Sompting Abbotts, we adopt a school-wide ethos that embodies our commitment to the environment. Its principles – 'Embrace Nature; Embrace Learning; Embrace Childhood' – are threaded through our teaching, influencing every child's journey from Pre-Prep to Upper Prep. Our 30-acre grounds and woodland in the South Downs National Park are at its roots.
