Children from Years 4 - 7 will be attending Glyndebourne to see Donizetti’s L’elisir d’amore. These Glyndebourne performances enable young audiences to immerse themselves, often for the first time, in the excitement of opera. These are fully staged, full length performances with an on-stage introduction specifically for schools. Light, lyrical and bursting with energy, L’elisir d’amore was the biggest success of Donzietti’s career – a comedy with the softest of hearts and the sweetest of melodies. Updating the action to the 1940s, Annabel Arden’s production celebrates the opera’s original joyful, colourful spirit, painting an affectionate picture of an Italy on the brink of political change.
